Consistent motor components begin with a clear technical baseline. We align the drawing revision, sample, critical dimensions and inspection method before routine supply.
Drawing control
Agree the drawing version, material and measurable acceptance points for the project.
Sample approval
Use representative samples to align expectations before volume production.
Production checks
Define checks for critical features and handle deviations against the agreed criteria.
What to include in an inquiry
- Current drawing and revision, or a clear part description
- Material and thickness requirements, if specified
- Critical dimensions, tolerances and burr limits; for finished cores, stack or construction requirements
- Expected quantities and delivery schedule
- Any test, packaging or documentation requirements
Define what an acceptable motor component looks like
Quality review is most useful when it is tied to the component’s function. A lamination drawing can identify the dimensions and edges important to stamping; a stack drawing adds alignment, axial dimensions and construction requirements; a bracket drawing highlights mounting holes, fixing surfaces and forming features. The inspection plan should state what is measured and the reference used.
For motor laminations, discuss material identification, sheet thickness, stamped geometry and any specified burr or insulation requirements. For finished cores, also identify stack height, relative alignment and mating features. A visual sample alone cannot define every acceptance requirement, so critical dimensions and the intended measurement method belong in the agreed technical documents.
Before routine supply, align the approved drawing revision, sample identity and handling of any open issues. State whether inspection records, material-related documents, batch identification or special packing are required with the shipment. Their scope and format should be agreed with the quotation rather than assumed from a generic product photograph.
Questions before component procurement
Which dimensions should be marked as critical?
Mark the dimensions controlling the part’s function or assembly fit and include their tolerances and datums. Examples can include bore fit, mounting hole positions, slot profiles or stack dimensions, depending on the part.
Can I request supporting inspection documents?
Describe the documents and format required with the inquiry. Availability, inspection scope and delivery of those records are agreed for the specific product and order.
