Induction motor stator and rotor laminations

Induction motor core procurement brings the stator bore and rotor outside profile into the same dimensional review. The air-gap-related geometry and slot arrangement belong to the motor design, while the lamination or stack order needs a clear definition of which parts and processes are included.

Use the motor drawing to identify the stator core, rotor lamination and finished stack requirements. If the project uses a cage rotor, distinguish the laminated core from a rotor assembly that also includes conductive bars, end rings or a shaft. Specify those items separately so the component quotation does not rely on an ambiguous description such as “complete rotor.”

Drawing and purchasing review points

Requirement Information to include
Stator profile Bore, slots, outside profile and mounting features, checked against the drawing references.
Rotor profile Outside diameter, slot arrangement, bore and any specified skew or stack orientation.
Assembly boundary Separate the core from casting, conductive parts, shafts and other assembly operations when defining the request.
Paired evaluation Provide both drawing revisions when stator and rotor components need to be sourced together.

Questions before component procurement

Is a rotor lamination the same as a finished induction rotor?

A lamination is a stamped sheet; a laminated core is a stack of sheets. A finished rotor assembly may include additional parts and processes. Specify the required supply stage before requesting a quotation.

Can the stator and rotor be reviewed as one project?

Yes. Supply both drawings and the matching references, then state quantities and inspection requirements for each component. This helps align sample review across the pair.
